Widgets - Make input element for slider act like a slider

Just an idea here, but when a slider is bound to an input element, can we make the input element respond to arrow keys in the same way the widget itself does? In other words if I tab into the slider's text field I would like to use the up and arrows to move the value up and down. We could use JavaScript to append instructions to that text field's label with instructions for screen reader users (giving the extra label content a very negative indent to keep it hidden from the visual screen).
